Roy Scheider was first seen in ‘New York Shakespeare Festival,’ a theatrical program for which he earned an ‘Obie Award.’ This was followed by running roles in soap operas like ‘The Secret Storm’ and ‘Love of Life.’
‘The Curse of the Living Corpse’ marked his film debut. In 1971, he starred in ‘The French Connection’ and ‘Klute.’ Both were highly successful movies and Scheider earned an ‘Academy Award’ nomination for ‘The French Connection,’ where he portrayed NYPD Detective Buddy “Cloudy” Russo.
He is also renowned for playing Martin Brody in ‘Jaws,’ and ‘Jaws 2.’ Some of his other popular and noteworthy film credits are ‘Marathon Man,’ the suspense thriller film, ‘The Seven Ups,’ the crime drama thriller film ‘All That Jazz,’ the musical drama film, ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ the epic science fiction film and ‘2010,’ the science fiction film.
He has bagged in a ‘BAFTA’ award, two ‘Academy’ award, and a ‘Golden Globe’ award nominations.
