Frances Rose McIver appeared as a child artist in commercials and in the period drama film ‘The Piano’ (1993), followed by ‘Topless Women Talk about Their Lives’ (1997), and the drama film ‘Toy Love’ (2002).
McIver’s first TV appearance came in the soap opera ‘Shortland Street’ (1993), followed by the fantasy TV movie series ‘Hercules: The Legendary Journey’ (1994-1995). She next appeared in various TV series, including ‘Riding High’ (1995), ‘City Life’ (1996), ‘Xena: Warrior Princess’ (1999), ‘Mercy Peak’ (2002), and TV movies ‘Murder in Greenwich’ (2002) and ‘Maiden Voyage’ (2004).
McIver featured in Disney films ‘Eddie’s Million Dollar Cook-Off’ (2003), and the sequel to ‘Johnny Tsunami,’ ‘Johnny Kapahala: Back on Board’ (2007). She appeared in several short films, such as ‘Flying’ (1998), ‘Knickers’ (2007), ‘So Fresh & So Keen’ (2008), and more. She was cast as the lead in the fantasy TV series ‘Maddigan’s Quest’ (2006) and played the main role as ‘Constance’ in the comedy drama series ‘Rude Awakening’ (2007).
McIver received her big break in Peter Jackson’s supernatural thriller drama film ‘The Lovely Bones’ (2009) as sister of the protagonist, followed by a role as ‘Maybelle’ in the comedy horror film ‘Predicament’ (2010).
McIver next played ‘Summer Landsdown Ranger Yellow’ in the TV series ‘Power Rangers RPM’ (2009), and appeared as ‘cheerleader Candice’ in the comedy series ‘Super City’ (2011). In TV film ‘Tangiwai’ (2011), which depicted the ‘Tangiwai rail disaster,’ her portrayal of one of the victims, cricketer Bob Blair’s fiancée, fetched her nominations. She had recurring roles in ‘Play it Again, Dick’ (2014), the period drama series ‘Masters of Sex’ (2013-2014) and as ‘Tinker Bell’ in the fantasy adventure series ‘Once Upon a Time’ (2013-2014, 2017).
McIver starred alongside Heather Graham in the TV film ‘Petals on Wind’ (2014). She played the lead in the 2013 sports drama film ‘Blinder’ and the romantic comedy film ‘Brightest Star.’ She starred as ‘Amber Moore’ in the Christmas romantic comedy film ‘A Christmas Prince’ (2017), and its sequels, ‘A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding’ (2018), and ‘A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby’ (2019).
McIver also starred in the baseball drama film ‘Brampton’s Own’ (2018) and the musical drama film ‘Daffodils’ (2019). In the supernatural procedural crime drama series ‘iZombie’ (2015-2019), she played ‘Olivia ‘Liv’ Moore’ which brought her popularity and nominations. On television, she essayed the main role in the comedy series ‘Woke’ (2020-2022) and the sitcom ‘Ghosts’ (2020-2022).
