Marian Rivera Garcia-Dantes started out as a ramp and TV-commercial model, gaining opportunity to work on the TV show ‘Ang Mahiwagang Baul’ (2005), followed by the soap-opera ‘Kung Mamahalin Mo Lang Ako’ (2005). She made her film debut in a supporting role as ‘Fairy Alyssa’ in ‘Enteng Kabisote 2: Okay ka Fairy Ko: The Legend continues’ (2005), which brought award nominations.
Rivera played the lead in the horror film ‘Pamahiin’ (2006), and appeared in the 2006 TV series ‘Agawin Mo Man ang Lahat’ and ‘Pinakamamahal.’ She was then cast in mature roles in the TV series ‘Super Twins’ and ‘Muli’ (both 2007).
Rivera played the lead (opposite her future husband, Dingdong Dantes) in the adaptation of the popular Mexican series ‘MariMar’ (2007-2008), winning several awards for this highly popular TV drama. After starring in films ‘Bahay Kubo’ (2007) and ‘Desperadas’ (2008), she portrayed the lead role of ‘Dyesebel Montemayor-Legaspi / Isabel’ in the TV series ‘Dyesebel’ (2008). In 2008, she appeared in ‘My Best Friend’s Girlfriend,’ which fetched accolades; and the horror trilogy ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll X’ and its sequel, ‘Desperadas 2.’ She co-starred with Dantes in the romantic drama ‘One True Love’ (2008).
Rivera teamed-up with Dennis Trillo in the horror-suspense film ‘Tarot’ (2009). That same year, starring with Trillo, she portrayed Mars Revelo’s second historical heroin, ‘Darna,’ in the TV series ‘Darna’ (2009-2010) and co-starred with Dantes in the TV series ‘Ang Babaeng Hinugot sa Aking Tadyang.’ In 2009, she also worked in the TV movie ‘Sugat ng Kahapon’ and her first sitcom, ‘Show Me da Manny.’
Next, Rivera starred in an adaptation of the Korean TV series ‘Endless Love’ (2010) and another series ‘Jillian Na mamasko po’ (2010). She was paired with Dantes again in the romantic-comedy film ‘You to Me Are Everything’ (2010), earning the ‘Best Actress’ nomination at ‘Metro Manila Film Festival.’ She appeared in TV shows ‘Anghel sa Lupa’ (2010) and ‘Spooky Nights: Bampirella’ (2011).
Rivera’s titular role in the epic historical drama series ‘Amaya,’ and in the adaptation of the Korean series ‘Temptation of Wife’ (2012-2013), earned her several ‘Best Actress Awards’ and immense popularity.
Thereafter, Rivera starred in the remake of ‘Temptation Island’ (2011) and ‘Ang Panday 2’ (2011). In the romantic-suspense-thriller series ‘My Beloved’ (2012), she played the lead alongside Dantes. Her next sitcom ‘Tweets for my Sweet’ (2012) got her nominations. After hosting the reality show ‘Extra Challenge’ (2012-2013), she played ‘a mean boss’ in the romantic-comedy ‘My Lady Boss’ (2013).
