Jean Arthur was an American actor who rose to prominence during the 1930s and 1940s. She is best known for her role as ‘Constance "Connie" Milligan’ in the film ‘The More the Merrier’ (1943). She earned the ‘Academy Award’ for ‘Best Actress’ for her performance in the film. She made her screen debut in ‘Cameo Kirby’ in 1923. She received her first lead role in ‘The Temple of Venus’ in 1923. She received commercial and critical success in the 1927 film ‘Horse Shoe’ (1927). Her first sound film for was ‘Warming Up’ (1928). Her other popular films include ‘Get That Venus’ (1933), ‘The Public Menace’ (1935), ‘You Can't Take It with You’ (1938), ‘The Talk of the Town’ (1942), and ‘Shane’ (1953), which was also her final film role. She also made appearances on TV shows such as ‘GunSmoke’ (1965) and ‘The Jean Arthur Show’ (1966).Â
