Uhm Jung-hwa made her acting debut in the 1992 romantic comedy film ‘Marriage Story’ directed by Ui-Seok Kim. Following her debut, she went on to star in films like ‘On a Windy Day We Must Go to Apgujeong’ (1993), ‘How to Top My Wife’ (1994), ‘Marriage Is a Crazy Thing’ (2002), ‘Singles’ (2003), ‘Mr. Hong’ (2004), and ‘All for Love’ (2005). In 2005, she starred as ‘Jung Soon-jung’ in the South Korean film ‘Princess Aurora’ directed by Bang Eun-jin. The film grossed over $5 million at the box office. Jung-hwa also won the ‘Busan Film Critics Award’ for her performance in the film. She continued to star in films such as ‘For Horowitz’ (2006), ‘Seducing Mr. Perfect’ (2006), ‘Love Now’ (2007), ‘Insadong Scandal’ (2009), ‘Haeundae’ (2009), ‘Five Senses of Eros’ (2009), ‘Bestseller’ (2010), ‘Mama’ (2011), and ‘Dancing Queen’ (2012). In 2013, she played the role of ‘Lee Jung-ha’ in the South Korean film ‘In My End Is My Beginning’ directed by Min Kyu-dong. The film was originally a part of the 2009 South Korean omnibus film ‘Five Senses of Eros.’ That same year, Jung-hwa also starred as ‘Ha-kyung’ in the Jeong Keun-seob-directed South Korean thriller film ‘Montage.’ Jung-hwa won the ‘Grand Bell Award’ and the ‘Chunsa Film Art Award’ for her portrayal of Ha-kyung in the film. She next appeared in films like ‘Venus Talk’ (2014), ‘Wonderful Nightmare’ (2015), and ‘Okay Madam!’ (2020). She was last seen playing the role of ‘Go Mi-ran’ in the 2022 South Korean television series ‘Our Blues’ written by Noh Hee-kyung.
