Sarah Bernhardt was a French actress, best known for starring in some great plays, such as, ‘King Lear’ (1867), ‘The Sphinx’ (1874), ‘Othello’ (1878), ‘Macbeth’ (1884), and ‘Cleopatra’ (1890), in the 80s. In the 90s, she starred in plays such as ‘L'Aiglon’ (1900), ‘Andromaque’ (1903), ‘The Loves of Queen Elizabeth’ (1916), and ‘Régine Armand’ (1922), which was also her final stage role. She went on several world tours as a theatre artist and won hearts everywhere. She made her screen debut as ‘Hamlet’ in the short film titled ‘The Duel of Hamlet’ (1900). Some of her popular films include ‘Jeanne Dore’ (1915), ‘Mothers of France’ (1917), and ‘The Clairvoyant’ (1924). Her unsuccessful films include ‘Camille’ (1912) and ‘Die Tänzerin’ (1915). She also starred in short films, such as ‘Tosca’ (1908) and ‘Queen Elizabeth’ (1912).
