Israeli singer, actress and Grammy Award-nominated recording artist, Ofra Haza’s onscreen work include the musical drama film ‘West Side Girl’ (1979), the musical comedy movie ‘Shlager’ (1979), and the drama film ‘Primal Justice’ (1997). In the first film, directed by George Obadiah, she played the role of an attractive blind singer, Vered, whereas the second film, directed by Assi Dayan, had her in the role of Dina Fuchsman. In the latter film, she performed on the song ‘Shir Ha'frecha’ which became extremely successful. In the last film, directed by Arnon Zadok, she played the lead role of a journalist who decides to investigate the case of kidnapped Yemen children.
Ofra Haza also worked in a couple of episodes of Israeli kids TV Program ‘Parpar Nechmad’ (1982) and lent her voice for Yocheved in the animated musical drama film ‘The Prince of Egypt’ (1998). For the latter film, she also sang the song ‘Deliver Us’ in English and recorded it in various other languages for the film’s dubbing. In 1998 again, she was the featured vocalist (voice) in the period drama ‘The Governess’. Other films wherein she was a part of the soundtrack were ‘Colors’ (1988), ‘Dick Tracy’ (1990), ‘Wild Orchid’ (1990) and ‘Queen Margot’ (1994).
