Nushrat Bharucha made her debut in Hindi cinema with a supporting role in ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ (2006). This was followed by her appearance in a leading role in the science-fiction romantic drama ‘Kal Kissne Dekha’ (2009) that proved unsuccessful at the box office. She next appeared in the 2010 anthology drama film ‘Love Sex Aur Dhokha’ directed by Dibakar Banerjee. The film was praised by critics and went on to become a commercial success. The film gave a necessary boost to Bharucha’s career.
In 2011, Bharucha starred in the romantic comedy film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama.’ The film garnered positive reviews which prompted the sequel, ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama II,’ (2015) that did equally well. In 2016, she marked her Tamil debut with the Sai Gokul-directed comedy film ‘Valeba Raja.’ After the film, Bharucha took a year-long sabbatical. She made her comeback with the comedy film ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ directed by Luv Ranjan. While the film received mixed reviews, it managed to come out as a box office hit, becoming one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2018.
In 2019, she starred in ‘Dream Girl’ (2019) alongside Ayushmann Khurrana. The film was a massive box office success and became the highest-grossing movie of Bharucha’s career. Nushrat Bharucha was last seen in the 2021 anthology film ‘Ajeeb Daastaans’ where she played the role of ‘Meenal.’ She is all set to appear in the upcoming horror film ‘Chhorii.’ Bharucha will also be seen in Nikhil Nagesh Bhat-directed upcoming romantic film ‘Hurdang.’
