Mahira Khan made her acting debut in the television series MTV’s Most Wanted (2006). In 2007, she got her own television show, ‘Weekends with Mahira.’ Khan made her big-screen debut in the 2011 Pakistani Urdu language social drama film ‘Bol,’ directed by Shoaib Mansoor. The film earned wide praise from critics and was a major commercial success, becoming one of the highest-grossing Pakistani films of all time. That same year, Khan also joined the cast of the Pakistani drama telenovela ‘Humsafar’ where she played the role of ‘Khirad Ehsan.’ Her performance in the show earned her the ‘Hum Award’ and ‘Lux Style Award.’ The show aired its final episode in 2012. She went on to appear in television series like ‘Shehr-e-Zaat’ (2012) and ‘Sadqay Tumhare’ (2014).
In 2015, she starred as ‘Saba Shafiq’ in the Pakistani romantic drama film ‘Bin Roye,’ directed by Shahzad Kashmiri. The film opened to mixed reviews but Khan earned praise for her performance. ‘Bin Roye’ was a massive box office success and went on to become the sixth-highest-grossing Pakistani film. That same year, she appeared in the Pakistani coming-of-age musical drama film ‘Ho Mann Jahaan’ directed by Asim Raza. The film did well at the box office and Khan bagged a ‘Lux Style Award’ for her performance. In 2017, she acted in the Hindi-language action film ‘Raees,’ directed by Rahul Dholakia. The film opened to critical acclaim and was a phenomenal commercial success, grossing over ₹281–308 crores against a budget of ₹90 crores. She next appeared in films like ‘Verna’ (2017), ‘7 Din Mohabbat In’ (2018), ‘Parey Hut Love’ (2019), and ‘Superstar’ (2019).
She was last seen in the 2021 television film ‘Aik Hai Nigar,’ where she portrayed ‘General Nigar.’ Khan is all set to appear in the upcoming film ‘Quied E Azam Zindabad,’ directed by Nabeel Qureshi.
