Kento Yamazaki began as a model and made screen debut in the TV series ‘Atami no Sousakan’ (2010), followed by another series, ‘Clone Baby.’ He made his feature film debut as a lead in ‘Control Tower’ (2011), then appeared in the TV series ‘Runaway for Your Love’ (2011).
In 2012, Yamazaki starred in the lead role in the school mystery horror film ‘Another,’ followed by ‘Wings of the Kirin,’ ‘The Chasing World 3,’ ‘The Chasing World 5,’ manga-based film ‘Love for Beginners’ and the TV series ‘Miss Double Faced Teacher.’ Next, he appeared in the romantic film ‘Jinx!’ (2013), TV-movie on subject of LGBT ‘Sato Family’s Breakfast’ (2013) and the TV series ’35-Sai no Koukousei’ (2013).
Yamazaki’s starring role in the live action film ‘L DK’ (2014), based on popular manga of the same name, brought him fame. That same year, he starred in various TV series, including ‘Water Polo Yankees,’ ‘Team Batista 4: Raden Meikyu’ and ‘Baseball Brainiacs.’
Subsequently, Yamazaki starred as a mysterious detective ‘L’ in the manga-based TV series ‘Death Note,’ then appeared in the drama series ‘Mare,’ TV-film Eternal Us Sea Side Blue’ (all in 2015). He starred in the box-office hit teen fantasy film ‘Orange’ and the live-action film ‘No Longer Heroine’ (both 2015), based on the manga series ‘Heroine Shikkaku.’ These two successful films brought him several nominations and awards.
In 2016, Yamazaki played a talented pianist in the youth musical romance film ‘You Lie in April,’ starred in the manga-based film ‘Wolf Girl and Black Prince,’ animated live-action fantasy adventure film ‘Yo-kai Watch the Movie: A Whale of Two Worlds’ and the TV series ‘A Girl and Three Sweethearts.’
Yamazaki’s next starred in several films and series, including the manga-based film ‘One Week Friends’ (2017), action-fantasy film ‘JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable Chapter1’ (2017), sci-fi comedy-film ‘The Disastrous Life of Saiki K’ (2017), film based on novel ‘Hyouka,’ ‘Hyouka: Forbidden Secrets’ (2017) and the TV series ‘Rikuoh’ (2017).
Yamazaki played his first TV series lead role in ‘Kiss and Kill’ (2018), followed by the medical TV series ‘Good Doctor’ that fetched him ‘TV Drama Academy Award for Best Actor.’ He played a ‘piano tuner’ in the film ‘A Forest of Wool and Steel’ (2018) and played cameos in a few TV-series. He played lead role as ‘Xin’ in the live-action film ‘Kingdom’ based on the popular historical manga of the same name.
Yamazaki’s recent starrers include the live-action film ‘Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaka’ (2020), ‘Crazy Samurai Musashi’ (2020), ‘The Door into Summer’ (2021) and ‘Kingdom 2: To the Far Land’ (2022). He plays the lead in the sci-fi thriller Netflix series ‘Alice in Borderland’ (2020-2022) and ‘Children of Atom’ (2022).
