John Davies Cale has appeared as an actor in several movies, mainly experimental films.
After an 18-hour marathon concert, Cale was a panelist on TV-show ‘I’ve Got a Secret’ (1963). In 1965, he appeared as himself in short-films ‘Dirt,’ ‘Satisfaction’ and ‘Venus in Furs,’ followed by 1966 short ‘Sunday Morning.’
Cale worked in quite a few Andy Warhol-directed avant-garde films such as 1966’s ‘The Velvet Underground Eat Lunch,’ ‘The Velvet Underground and Nico: A Symphony of Sound,’ ‘The Bob Dylan Story,’ ‘Four Stars (****).’ The same year, Cale directed a short-film ‘Police Car.’ In 1969, he appeared in a diary-film ‘Walden’ by experimental filmmaker Jonas Mekas.
Cale appeared on an episode of British TV-series ‘The South Bank Show’ (1986). Further, he took acting training under F. Murray Abraham. In short-film ‘The Houseguest’ (1987) he played ‘Hubbley,’ in spy-thriller TV-series ‘The Equalizer’ he appeared as ‘Aryan Leader’ in one episode and also appeared in ‘Wonderland USA’ (1989).
