Haruma Miura began his acting career as a child-artist, first appearing in the TV series ‘Aguri’ (1997). He then appeared in films ‘Nile,’ and ‘Jubaku: Spellbound’ (both 1999), ‘Thousand years of Love: The Tale of Shining Genji’ (2001), ‘Mori na Gakko’ (2002) and others. He also appeared in TV-series ‘Manatsu no Merry Christmas’ (2001), ‘Musashi’ (2003), ‘Fight’ (2005), ‘Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu’ (2005), and ‘Unfair,’ ‘Komyo fa Tsuji,’ ‘Children,’ and ‘Mother at Fourteen (2006).’
Miura’s first main role was in the film ‘Catch a Wave’ (2006), followed by ‘Akihabara@Deep’ (2006). His starring role in film ‘Koizora’ (2007) brought him ‘Newcomer of the Year Award.’ He then starred in the film ‘Negative Happy Chainsaw Edge’ (2007), while ‘Naoko’ (2008) brought him popularity.
In 2009, Miura appeared in two manga series-based films, ‘Crows Zero 2’ and ‘Gokusen: The Movie.’ He also starred in TV series ‘Gokusen’ (2008), ‘Binbo Danshi’ (2008), followed by lead roles in the series ‘Bloody Monday’ (2008, 2010), and ‘Samurai High School’ (2009). He won the ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award at the ‘Elan d’or Awards 2009.’
Miura next starred in the romantic drama ‘Kimi ni Todoke’ (2010), followed by TV series ‘Hi wa Mata Noboru’ (2011), ‘The Hours of My Life’ (2011) and miniseries ‘Yo ni ma Kimyo na Monogatari’ (2011). His subsequent TV series in lead roles were ‘Keigo Higashino Mysteries’ (2012), ‘Last Cinderella’ (2013), and ‘Boku na ita Jikan’ (the last one fetched him awards and ‘Satsujin Hensachi 70).’
Miura next starred in the drama film ‘Tokyo Park’ (2011), sci-fi animated-film ‘Harlock: Space Pirate’ (2013) as voice-actor, and the war-drama film ‘The Eternal Zero’ (2013), earning Best Supporting actor nomination.
Thereafter, Miura starred in the romance-suspense film ‘Five Minutes to Tomorrow’ (2014), post-apocalyptic action-film ‘Attack on Titan’ and its sequel, ‘End of the World’ (both 2015) and TV series ‘Never Let Me Go’ (2016), and the historical drama series ‘Naotora: The Lady Warlord’ (2017), ‘Otona Koukou’ (2017). He played lead roles in TV series ‘Tourist’ (2018), ‘Dying Eye’ (2018), and co-hosted a TV travel-show.
Miura starred in the remake of South Korean comedy drama film ‘Sunny’ (2018), action-comedy film ‘Gintama 2’ and ‘A Banana? At This Time of Night?’ (Both 2018). His 2019-starrers were ‘The Confidence Man JP,’ ‘Little Nights, Little Love,’ and the TV series ‘Two Weeks.’
Miura’s films ‘The Confidence Man JP: Episode of the Princess’ (2020), ‘Godai: The Wunderkind’ (2020), ‘Gift of Fire’ (2021), and TV series ‘Gift of Fire’ (2020) and ‘Love Begins When the Money Ends’ (2020) were released posthumously.
