Giada Colagrande made her screen debut in the 2002 drama ‘Aprimi il cuore.’ The film also marked the writing and directorial debut of Colagrande. In 2005, she wrote and directed the romance drama film ‘Before It Had a Name’ where she also played the role of Eleonora. The film had its premiere at the Venice Film Festival. It was also retitled ‘The Black Widow’ when released on DVD. The year 2010 saw the release of the drama film ‘A Woman’ both written and directed by Colagrande. The film received a lukewarm response from critics. She next wrote and directed the 2012 documentary film ‘Bob Wilson's Life & Death of Marina Abramovic.’ In 2013, she came to direct the short documentary ‘The Abramovic Method.’ That same year, Colagrande also starred in the short film ‘Castello Cavalcanti’ directed by Wes Anderson. The film received wide critical acclaim upon release. She next played the role of ‘Graziella Chiarcossi’ in the 2014 English-language drama film ‘Pasolini’ directed by Abel Ferrara. The film was warmly received by the critics and earned an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. In 2016, she wrote and directed the drama film ‘Padre’ where she also played the role of ‘Giulia Fontana.’ She is currently directing the upcoming thriller film ‘Tropico.’
